AWUJALE SELECTION: GOVERNOR ABIODUN RESPONDS TO MISLEADING REPORTS

 


Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has clarified circulating reports suggesting a confrontation between him and the Council of Afobajes regarding the Awujale selection. According to official sources, these claims are completely false and misleading.


The Governor held a respectful consultative meeting with the Council of Afobajes, consistent with meetings he held in the past with the Olori Ebis that were hitherto polarized which fostered their harmonization and, through such earlier engagements, he also persuaded one of the kingmakers to withdraw a filed litigation. 

The discussions he had focused on matters of mutual concern in the interest of the progress in traditional affairs within Ijebuland.

Football executive, David Beckham has said "you have to let your children make mistakes" in a new interview about social media, hours after his son Brooklyn posted shocking allegations against his family on social media.  


Speaking live on CNBC’s financial program Squawk Box today, Jan. 20, David, 50, said: "I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media . . . For the good and for the bad 

"What kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons.

Senegal wins 2025 AFCON after defeating host Morocco 1-0 in chaotic final

 


Senegal are the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations champions after a 1-0 win against host nation Morocco in a chaotic final in Rabat.

 

The match, held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, was decided in extra time.

 

Villarreal midfielder, Pape Gueye, scored the only goal of the game with a powerful strike into the top corner in extra time to secure their second continental title. 

Lagos government announces 18-week maintenance of Mazamaza bridge

 

The Lagos State Government has announced an 18-week maintenance programme for Mazamaza Bridge along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, ahead of plans to demolish and rebuild the structure as part of the Blue Line Rail Phase 2 extension from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the repairs will begin on Monday, 19 January 2026 and will cover both the Toll and Service Lanes in both directions, focusing on expansion joints and other structural elements.

Osiyemi said the bridge will not be fully closed at any point and that traffic will be managed through diversions across the Toll, BRT, and Service Lanes to limit disruption.
