US to deport Invictus Obi and 17 more Nigerians on criminal list

 The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to deport additional 18 Nigerians listed on its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register. 

The development comes barely one week after 79 Nigerians convicted of various offences were marked for deportation.

According to the statement published on DHS website on Monday, February 9, 2026, 18 Nigerians were convicted for wire fraud, child solicitation, mail fraud and identity theft.

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement," the statement read.

Iran officially allows women to ride motorcycles

 Local media disclosed this on Wednesday, Feb. 4, ending years of legal ambiguity surrounding two-wheelers. 

The law previously did not explicitly prohibit women from riding motorbikes and scooters, but in practice, authorities refused to issue licences.

Nigerian student jailed for using fake ID to work in UK hospitals without medical training

 

A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has been convicted after she worked in NHS hospitals using fake identification, despite having no formal medical training.

30-year-old Oluwabunmu Adeleiyi was living in Cardiff on a student visa and worked as a healthcare support worker at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and the Caswell Clinic in Bridgend.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that Adeleiyi and two accomplices shared fake ID cards and used them to secure shifts through employment agencies, fraudulently billing the NHS about £16,000 every month.

Man d!es while rescuing goat from deep well in Oyo

 

The Oyo State Fire Service has recovered the corpse of a 45-year-old man who d!ed while attempting to rescue a goat from a deep well in Saki West Local Government Area of the state. 

The service also recovered the corpse of a 30-year-old man, Shina Adedeji, from a well in a separate location. 

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reforms and Chairman of the state Fire Service, Moroof Akinwande, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. 

EFCC arrests Kannywood star, Samha Inuwa for wiping her nose with naira notes

 

The Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a Kannywood star, Samha Inuwa over alleged Naira mutilation.

Inuwa was arrested on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 following a viral video circulated on social media platforms where she was seen conspicuously cleaning mucus from her nose using Naira notes.

Following the release of the viral video, the Commission swung into action by tracing and subsequently arrested her to answer questions.

She is currently being held at the Commission's detention facility while investigation is ongoing.

The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
