Nigerian man jailed in UK for hacking woman's social media accounts, blackmailing her, and selling her images

A Nigerian man has been sentenced in the UK after pleading guilty to hacking a Wirral woman’s social media accounts and blackmailing her.

Bosun Osagie was sentenced to two years and three months in prison on Monday October 12, Merseyside Police reports.

According to Merseyside Police: "In February 2023 we received a report that a woman’s Snapchat account and X (formerly Twitter) had been hacked and her images were being used to set up fake accounts."

The police added that the fake accounts were used to solicit the victim as a woman of the streets "and her images were being sold online. She was subsequently blackmailed."

Following extensive enquiries Bosun Osagie, of Hartslock Drive in Bexley, London was arrested and charged.

At an earlier court hearing 25-year-old Osagie pleaded guilty to computer hacking and blackmail.

Then, on Monday 12 October, he was sentenced to two years, three months in prison and a 10-year restraining order was put in place to not contact the victim.

Detective Sergeant Darren Devonport. said: “Osagie's actions have caused deep distress to the victim. Not only did he intrude into privacy, he then tried to blackmail her into giving him money. The victim did the right thing and reported it to us.

“Merseyside Police is completely committed to stopping the possession and distribution of indecent images.

“We hope that Osagie will now reflect on the consequences of his crimes and the significant impact on the victim while in jail.”
